I bought some glittery card stock in a couple of different colors and I created clocks to glue on the front of each bag. Then, you just need to print and cut out the printable activity cards. Next you’ll staple or tape the clocks onto the Mini Silver Treat Bags. First, cut and print out the Countdown clock printable. I purchased a pack of shimmery silver lunch sized bags and filled them with a variety of fun things that they could do on the hour, every hour, from 4:00 pm – midnight. Make a list of 12 fun games and activities for the kids to do and write each one on a small piece of paper. I am learning that 11 year old girls love to be silly and have fun with planned activities, but also like to have a good amount of unstructured time when they get together, so I planned the night to incorporate both. New Year’s Eve with kids is all about the fun and games, and this balloon countdown from How Does She is always a winner. I wanted to make it really fun for her, so I let her invite a couple of friends over and got to work creating a memorable tween friendly event. This year my husband had to work until 9pm and my teenage boys made plans to play Airsoft with friends, so it was just going to be my girl and I counting down for most of the evening. I started doing this when my 3 kids were little, and over the years, I have adapted this tradition in a variety of ways. The balloon drop has become an annual part of our Noon Year’s Eve celebration that the boys look forward to and start asking about before Christmas even arrives.

In previous years, our boys have loved counting down to noon with King Julian of Madagascar and other favorite characters. What we do is pretty much the same thing that you would do for New Year’s Eve at midnight but at noon on New Year’s Eve.
